New Moon in Libra, and the New Year on the Jewish Calendar is upon us, beginning Sunday night September 29th.
We're moving on from the "Ayin"
decade (the 5770's) to the "Pey" decade (Taf Shin Pey = 5780).
The
energy of the "Ayin" years was located in our eyes (Ayin): judging what
we see. Have we spent these years seeing ourselves and others through an
"Ayin Tovah" (a good eye) or G*d forbid, through an "Ayin Harah" (an
evil eye)?
Now we come upon the "Pey" decade. The "Pey" is the mouth. The power to bless, to uplift, to build up, to encourage, to support,
to teach and to positively connect with others is via our mouth. So is
the power to curse, to tear down, to discourage, and to negatively
impact ourselves and others located in the mouth.
For the Jewish
People, the mouth of the "Pey" is related to the verse in Isaiah 41:14:
“Do not fear, O worm Jacob, men of Israel. I am helping you,” says
HaShem, and your Redeemer, Israel’s Holy One"
“Do not fear, O worm
Jacob! Why is Israel compared to a worm? Just as a worm strikes the
cedars only with its mouth—though soft, it strikes the hard—so Israel
possesses only prayer, for the idolatrous nations are compared to
cedars” (Tanḥuma, Beshallaḥ 9).
“Come and see: All nations of the
world have been rendered to certain ruling archons, as has been said,
and they follow their false gods, as is written: [For all the nations]
will walk each in the name of its god (Micah 4:5)—all shedding blood,
waging war, stealing, robbing, fornicating, mingling with numerous
evildoings. They intensify their power to harass, while Israel has no
power to overcome them except through its mouth—like a worm whose only
power and strength lies in its mouth, by its mouth penetrating all. So
Israel is called worm” (Zohar 1:178a).
Friends, I bless you in the
Name of the G*d of Israel for a good year, a sweet year, a happy year, a
healthy year, a year of abundance and plenty, a year of love and
connectivity. I bless your mouth to have the power and strength to speak
truth to power, to bless and not to curse, to uplift and not tear down,
to build and not destroy. May your mouth be like the mouth of the worm
and the power of prayer your mighty weapon. Shana Tova u'Metuka and may
we all be signed, sealed and delivered!

Elul 5779: Helping Hands and Humble Hearts
Read Elul's horoscopes in the Jerusalem Post here
Virgo’s ruling planet Mercury (Kochav), Venus (Noga) and Mars (Ma’adin)
as well as the Sun are arrayed like troops as befitting their tribal
leader Gad, displaying good order and discipline during Chodesh Elul
(August 31 – September 29).
The practice of blowing the shofar every morning during Elul activates those troops like a spiritual call to arms! Betulah, the virgin, is prepared. She knows analysis and preparation is the foundation of every successful battle, and she has no intention of losing her war against the forces of disinformation and deceit.
Virgo’s prodigious analytic powers and insightful introspection are designed specifically to shine during this time of year. Her allies in sober sanity against the forces of chaos include Saturn (Shabbtai), stationing direct in structured, organized Capricorn on September 18. Saturn turns experience into maturity, and with maturity comes wisdom. As seasoned warriors in the war against spiritual darkness, we must pick and choose our battles and select our weapons wisely. The full moon in compassionate, empathetic Pisces on Friday, September 13, is a real-life opportunity to demonstrate humility and empathy.
Extending a helping hand to those in need is good exercise for both heart and soul.
We journey together from ani l’dodi v’dodi li to preparing to crown “HaMelech” during the days between Tekufah Tishrei, the autumnal equinox September 23 and the new moon in Libra September 28. If we allow the shofar to blast holes in the hardened parts of our hearts, we’ll have done the heavy lifting of teshuva as we prepare to go into Rosh HaShanah 5780. May it be a year of blessings, revealed miracles and redemption!

She knows analysis and preparation is the foundation of every successful battle, and she has no intention of losing her war against the forces of disinformation and deceit.
It is during Elul which we say, “The king is in the field,” indicating the closeness and intimacy with our creator during this month traditionally dedicated to self-examination and repentance.

Contradictions and Course Corrections: Chodesh Menachem Av 5779
![]() |
| "Leo"from the Michal Mahzor, Germany 1258. |
Av 5779
(August 2 – August 30)
Our tradition tells us that when Chodesh Av comes, we reduce our joy, yet it also informs us that Tu b’Av is one of the two most joyful holidays in the Jewish calendar! It was on Tu b’Av that the daughters of Jerusalem disregarded social status and economic disparity by each loaning the other white dresses so that all might dance beneath the moonlight in equality. It was the day the 12 Tribes were reconciled after the civil war and tribal intermarriage permitted again.
Indeed, Chodesh Av is full of contradictions and course-corrections.
The new moon in Leo on erev Rosh Chodesh Av scorches hypocrisy and
deceit with the white-hot heat of judgment. The (delayed) fast of Tisha
b’Av August 11 is sufficiently solemn with Moon in Capricorn, yet the
day’s energy wildly fluctuates, with Jupiter direct, Mercury’s ingress
into Leo, and Uranus’s retrograde station in Taurus. Universal rather
than particularistic love reigns at the full moon in democratic,
humanitarian, egalitarian Aquarius on Tu b’Av, August 15.
Course-corrections are re-calculated August 23 at the last quarter moon
in Gemini with the Sun’s entrance into calm, analytic Virgo. By the
Virgo new moon August 30 joined to Mercury in his own sign, clarity is
restored.
May Chodesh Av’s powerful potential for extreme emotion be channeled into the passionate quest for dignity, wisdom and discernment!

Tammuz: Total Eclipse of the Heart
CHODESH TAMMUZ TOV!
![]() |
| "Sartan" / Cancer the Crab, from the Michael Mahzor, illuminated parchment manuscript, Germany, 1258 |
Chodesh Tammuz 5779: TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART
Chodesh Tammuz (July 3 – August 1), associated with the mazal of Cancer (Sartan) the crab, is the only month of the Hebrew calendar whose ruling planet is the Moon. This year the Moon plays an even more important role as Chodesh Tammuz 5779 features two Eclipses!
This month during “Eclipse Season” light, which is consciousness, is hidden and then re-revealed, and it’s never quite the same as it was before. It’s now upgraded awareness, a higher consciousness. These powerful cosmic events underscore themes of security, family, tradition and respect – all of which are associated with Tammuz’s Tribal ruler Reuven, the emotional and sensitive first-born son of Jacob and Leah.
The Solar Eclipse / New Moon in Cancer on July 2 initiates “security” issues. Ideas like “food, home, mother, money” trigger powerful, primal gut reactions. The Lunar Eclipse / Full Moon in Capricorn on July 16 is a faceoff and smackdown between the Divine Feminine and old, outworn images of a punishing, patriarchal god. Venus and the North Node join the Sun in Cancer, eclipsed by the opposition of the Capricorn Full Moon with Saturn and Pluto.
Cardinal Water sign Cancer is concerned with the honor and the memory of the mother as illustrated by Reuven’s relationship with Leah. Mother Earth is powerful this month and disrespecting her brings serious consequences. Honoring the natural creation and respecting her power and majesty honors our Creator and strengthens our own roots!
What can’t you live without? What’s your absolute red line, your most basic, primal desire? We all need to love and be loved. This month we confront our most essential need during what may turn out to be a total eclipse of the heart. When the darkness lifts, a new light shines – may it illuminate our way during this Moon-month of Tammuz!

Sivan: The Power of Life and Death in Our Tongues
Read my horoscope for Sivan in The Jerusalem Post.
Chodesh Sivan (June
4 – July 3) is associated with the constellation of Gemini the Twins (Taumim).
Tradition tells us that it was during Chodesh Sivan that the Children of Israel
received the Torah on Mt. Sinai: the ultimate Divine data-download symbolized
by Gemini/Sivan's ruler, swift Mercury (Kochav), the planet of communication. Sivan is all
about gathering and disseminating information and interfacing with the
immediate environment as indicated by Sivan’s Tribal ruler, Zevulon, whose flag
was decorated with ships, symbolizing his journeys along the coasts of the
Mediterranean, seeking new horizons and new opportunities.
![]() |
| Gemini/Taumim from a mahzor, Germany 1342 |
This month the
journey is towards upgrading our relationship to the concept of security, both
personal and public. What makes you feel safe: structures or relationships? Institutions
or family? Old fears compete with new alliances when Saturn, South Node with
Pluto in practical, serious Capricorn opposes the Mars / North Node / Mercury
conjunction in emotional, sentimental Cancer on June 13. “Trust but verify”
now, as information is more likely than ever to be biased.
The second in a
rare series of three exact squares this year made by Jupiter in Sagittarius to
Neptune in Pisces occurs June 16. Stretching the boundaries of dreams and
testing the borders of perception, we must guard against extreme distortion of
ideals and zealous fanaticism. Facts must actively fight against fear-fueled fantasy
now.
June 17’s Full
Moon in truth-telling Sagittarius inspires frankness. Proverbs 18:21 tells us “Death
and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its
fruit”. The Summer Solstice (Tekufah Tammuz) and the Sun’s ingress
into Cancer June 21 immediately following Neptune’s retrograde gives us a moment
to evaluate whether what we’ve spoken has been life-affirming or destructive. May
we be wise with our words and careful guardians of our hearts during Chodesh
Sivan!

Yallah, Taurus!
Chodesh Iyar began on Sunday, but tonight the Sun moves into Taurus. The
lag/overlap between the Hebrew and Gregorian months is why there are
actually 36 possible permutations of the Zodiac. For instance, anyone
born between Sunday at this evening would be an Iyar Aries. Anyone born
between tonight and May 15th will be an Iyar Taurus. Those born between
May 15th and May 22nd will be a Sivan Taurus...etc., etc.

Sivan - Time to Sail the Seven Seas
Chodesh #Sivan Tov!
Sivan is the month in which we receive both the #Torah and the #Ger, the righteous convert whose soul makes Claal Yisrael shalem (complete). Ruth the Moabitess, the great-grandmother of King David (whose birthday and yartzeit we commemorate on #Shavuot) is the archetype of the righteous convert. #Zevulon, the Tribe associated with the Month of Sivan and the "mazal" (Zodiac sign) of #Gemini, travels by sea to gather up and bring back home the riches of other lands and peoples, in order to bless his family.
We too must "travel by sea", cross borders and boundaries, cultures and comfort zones, to find those treasures and bring them "home" to our own hearts and souls, to enrich and make whole that which is lacking.
Sivan/Gemini's Planet is #Mercury ("Kochav"), ruler of both written and oral communication - apt indeed for the month Torah was given at Mt. Sinai.

Harnessing the Spiritual Power of Ramadan
Ramadan always begins on a New Moon / Rosh Chodesh of the Jewish Calendar (Head of the Month). This
year (2016), Ramadan begins on Rosh Chodesh Sivan, as it did in 1951, 1952, 1953, 1984, 1985, and as it will occur in 2017 and 2018 as well.
The Islamic calendar is a lunar system, and the annual occurrence of the month of Ramadan runs on an approximate 32 year cycle varying as to which Hebrew month it falls in, throughout the years, decades, centuries. Unlike the Hebrew solar/lunar calendar, the Islamic calendar has no feast or fast that must fall in a certain season (as we do with the Month of Nissan, Chodesh Aviv, which the Torah mandates must start in the Spring).
Zevulon traveled the Mediterranean in ships, interacting and trading and conversing (Mercury / Gemini) with all the peoples and societies around ancient Israel, in order to bring back riches - both spiritual and material - with which to bless and support his brother-tribe, Issachar (those whose time was given to wisdom-learning, such as the Seasons & Times, and Torah study).
An important aspect of Chodesh Sivan is that of the "Ger", the righteous convert, the soul which enters Claal Yisrael to complete the fullness of our common soul-root. Ruth the Moabitess is the soul associated with Shavuot, and as she is the archetype / soul root of all righteous converts, she is also the great-grandmother of King David, prototype Messiah and King of the Jews. The story of Ruth, who married Boaz and gave birth to Oved, who was the father of Jesse, the father of David, is read during Shavuot. King David, David the "Sweet Singer of Israel", beloved of the Lord, was born and died on Shavuot.
To contemplate / meditate upon which Hebrew Month Ramadan has fallen in since 1930, I present the following data:
Ramadan in Nissan - 1957, 1958, 1989, 1990, 1991
Ramadan in Iyar - 1954, 1955, 1956, 1986, 1987, 1988, 2019, 2020, 2021
Ramadan in Sivan - 1951, 1952, 1953, 1984, 1985, 2016, 2017, 2018
Ramadan in Tammuz - 1948, 1949, 1950, 1981, 1982, 1983, 2014, 2015
Ramadan in Av - 1946, 1947, 1979, 1980, 2011, 2012, 2013
Ramadan in Elul - 1943, 1944, 1945, 1976, 1977, 1978, 2008, 2009, 2010
Ramadan in Tishrei (Rosh HaShanah) - 1940, 1941, 1942, 1973, 1974, 1975, 2005, 2006, 2007
Ramadan in Cheshvan - 1938, 1939, 1970, 1971, 1972, 2003, 2004
Ramadan in Kislev - 1935, 1936, 1937, 1967, 1967, 1969, 2000, 2001, 2002
Ramadan in Tevet - 1933, 1934, 1966, 1998, 1999
Ramadan in Shvat - 1930, 1931, 1932, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1996, 1997
Ramadan in Adar (I and II) - 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995
The Islamic calendar is a lunar system, and the annual occurrence of the month of Ramadan runs on an approximate 32 year cycle varying as to which Hebrew month it falls in, throughout the years, decades, centuries. Unlike the Hebrew solar/lunar calendar, the Islamic calendar has no feast or fast that must fall in a certain season (as we do with the Month of Nissan, Chodesh Aviv, which the Torah mandates must start in the Spring).
The Sons of Ishmael enact great spiritual power during the fast of Ramadan. Their zealous devotion in fasting from sunrise to sunset during the entire month of Ramadan functions to stimulate, trigger and if needs be, to provoke the Jewish people, cousins of the descendants of Ishmael, to desire and even envy the Muslim level of devotion, surrender and commitment, stimulating us as we seek to emulate, and indeed, exceed it.The area we need to renew our commitment and passion in is indicated by the month Ramadan falls in each year. Last year (2015), Ramadan fell on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz. During Tammuz years, we look at our patriarch Reuven, to which Tammuz corresponds.
The tikkun of Reuven had to do with filial duty, and proper care for parents. The Jewish people were being provoked by our Ishmalite cousins to do tshuva this past year in the "Chodesh Tammuz" in the areas in our life, where respect and responsibility to our parents and elders are concerned.
Were we successful? How did last year go for us (for you, for me, for us as a community) in terms of "Kavod Av v'Am"?This year Ramadan begins on Rosh Chodesh Sivan. Sivan is the month during which we're given the Torah (Shavuot is the Chag which falls on the 5th/6th day of Chodesh Sivan). Sivan is associated with the Tribe of Zevulon, the Planet Mercury ("Cochav") and the function of Mutable Air - Transformative Thought.

King David, David the "Sweet Singer of Israel", beloved of the Lord, was born and died on Shavuot.
The tikkun which Ramadan will trigger for us in 2016 is the test of how we treat the convert, how we relate to the one who desires to draw close for the sake of the blessings of belonging. Those who imagine themselves to be righteous in Torah will be challenged to experience transformative thought in relation to the convert. Indeed, anyone who falls outside our ghetto-mind will come under the category of "other" - and we are challenged as a People to transform our thought towards the "other" until we can see the "other" contains something we ourselves cannot be complete without! Just as the Jewish People were not complete until Ruth came to add her spiritual DNA to the mix, producing MOSHIACH in archetype - King David himself - Ramadan during Sivan years challenge us to SEEK that which is MISSING in our Claal, so that we all might be complete and shalem, whole.Just as the Hebrew Calendar and the Jewish Year is the manifestation of Sacred Time, our cousins have been given the Islamic Calendar to know the times and the seasons they are to enact their devotions, which are intended to arouse us to a purer and more passionate response to our own spiritual calling. It is a dance of devotion between root souls - Isaac and Ishmael, both sons of Avraham - and in the end, the time of one is the time of both and the time of both is the time of All.
To contemplate / meditate upon which Hebrew Month Ramadan has fallen in since 1930, I present the following data:

Bernie in the Sky with Diamonds
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
was born 14 Elul, 5701 (6 September, 1941) in Brooklyn, NY. It was
Shabbat, Parshat Ki Tietzei.
The Full Moon of Elul is always in Pisces. Although his birth time is unknown so we can't calculate his Ascendent (Rising Sign), we can see his Mars in Aries - Venus in Libra opposition as a perfect balance of harmonious, naturally placed energies - this person was BORN a "feminist".
He has powerful Virgo placements in his chart - his Sun, North Node ("Karmic Setpoint / Tikkun Point"), Neptune, several asteroids, and most strikingly his Mercury at 29 Degrees Virgo (29 is the "critical" or "ultimate" degree of any sign). He is MR. ANALYSIS. Virgo's role is to sift and to separate what is useful from what is not useful - that's why they call Virgo's "picky". They call themselves "discerning", which would be more accurate.
Mercury, the ruling Planet of Virgo, at Virgo's "ultimate" degree, is the quintessential analytical communicator. His Saturn in Taurus gives him an internal, fixed structure which is illustrated by a lifetime of persistence and consistency.
Uranus at zero degrees Gemini is interesting, as the general rule is that "a Planet is not established in a Sign until it reaches 1 degree". Any zero degree Planet is like a free-form energetic free-fall and sort of like a Joker is to a deck of cards. Uranus is his "unique" self, and this placement almost abrogates the ego need for differentiation and individuation. Combined with his compassionate Pisces Moon, it's no wonder he self-identifies as a "Socialist".
Pluto/Chiron conjunction in Leo is the most striking indication of someone who is willing to effect radical change in order to right a wrong and heal what is wounded.
Starting this week, transiting Jupiter will be in VIRGO until the middle of September, 2016. Jupiter EXPANDS everything it touches. This is going to be GREAT for Bernie. Keep on watching the stars to see how it all unfolds.

Egyptian Astrologer Warns The World: The Jews Are Gaining Power!
All sorts of hooplala going on out there in Internet Land right now regarding this video of Egyptian Astrologer Sayyed Al-Shimi which appeared on Al-Nahar TV explaining why the upcoming transit of the Planet Saturn though Sagittarius (scheduled for December 2014) means that the Jews will be stronger.
What's funny, of course, is the timing of this video - corresponding to the time when we read in the Torah about the birth of Moses and how he becomes the deliverer of the Jewish People from Egypt.
You know there's a Midrash that says that the Egyptian Astrologers correctly predicted that Moses' downfall would come about through water - they just didn't get that it would be in G*d's time and G*d's way, with a water (from the rock he should have spoken to instead of struck) they never could have foreseen.
Saturn ("Shabtai" - "My Sabbath") is a Planet very closely associated with the Jewish People. Saturn typically transits through each Sign of the Zodiac for about 2 1/2 years. Right now Saturn is in Scorpio, a Sign traditionally associated with the Arab Nations. Saturn has been in Scorpio since early October, 2012.
Beginning in December 2014 until December 2017, Saturn will be transiting through Sagittarius. It's a very favorable position for us, in that it has a lot of energetic potential.
One should not take Carte Blanche with the concept that Saturn in a Fire Sign is automatically good for the Jews. But I will make the following observation - from late April 1937 until the end of July 1939, Saturn was in the aggressive, Mars-Ruled Fire Sign of Aries. Those were the years that Hitler (y'mach sh'mo) and his Nazi Party had HUGE success not only in Germany but in Europe in general with their aggressive stance and their antisemitic rhetoric.
Hitler himself was very involved in the occult and employed astrologers. When Saturn made a hard conjunction to Hitler's natal Sun in Taurus, Hitler invaded Poland. It's still a mystery as to whether Hitler chose that time period because he knew it was a powerful energetic opportunity for him to exert his will over hundreds of thousands of people.
Most of the beginning of WWII happened when Saturn was in Taurus. It wasn't until May 1942 that Saturn entered the Air Sign of Gemini that things peaked (the Axis Powers had their biggest successes January - May 1942) and the war began to change direction.
The movements of the Planets does not CREATE circumstances and events as much as they REFLECT them. Saturn''s transit through Mars/Pluto-ruled Scorpio has not been "good for the Jews." The combative, aggressive and hostile energies of Mars and Pluto move Saturn from mature to stubborn, rigid to ossified, structured to enmeshed and mired in the same-old, same-old.
There are three Fire Signs - Cardinal/Initiating Fire Aries (ruled by Mars), Fixed/Establishing Fire Leo (ruled by the Sun), and Mutable/Transforming Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter). When Saturn is in any of these Fire Signs, Saturn's "tzimtzuming" energy (which is to constrict, create borders and boundaries, control) meets the energy of the ruling Planet of the Sign that Saturn is visiting.
The upcoming transit of Saturn through Sagittarius is a melding of the energies of Saturn ("Shabtai" - "My Sabbath") and Jupiter ("Tzedek" - from the word Tzadik, Righteous). It's a most profoundly auspicious time to wed the maturity and wisdom of Saturn with the fortuitous, positive, expansive and beneficent energy of Jupiter.
All the Saturn in Sagittarius transits of the previous Century (March 1897 thru the beginning of January, 1900, December 1926 - November 1929, April 1937 - July 1939, October 1956 - January 1959, November 1985 - February 1988) had the same Saturn the Sign of Jupiter energy, with different material world manifestations.
So what I have to reply to you, Mr. Egyptian Astrologer Sayyed Al-Shimi, is, like your Egyptian Astrologer predecessors who predicted a savior would arise who would meet his downfall through water, you're seeing something that you don't know how to perceive. Although you DO see that the upcoming Saturn in Sagittarius will be good for the Jews, tragically, because of the brainwashing you've received from your culture and your religion, you don't see just HOW GOOD something that's good for the Jews is also good for this WORLD.

Tanya on the Four Elements - Releasing The Sparks of Holiness!
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
Fire. Air. Earth. Water. Our Zodiac (and our personalities) are made up of different amounts of each of these four elements. Each element has three permutations - Cardinal (Initiating energy), Fixed (establishing energy) and Mutable (transforming energy).
The Tanya of the Alter Rebbe (Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi) provides a fascinating glimpse into how the world of Chassidut views the Four Elements in terms of the human personality.
The following is distilled from Chapter One of Tanya, in which the Alter Rebbe discusses the Two Souls and what they are comprised of - in this case, what he referred to as the "Animal Soul" - that part of our personality which draws its energy from the "Klipah Noga," the husk/shell/skin that contain discernible Sparks of Divine Light:
"Just as the four physical elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth are the foundation of all physical entities, so too is this nefesh (the lowest level of the human soul, that part of us connected most closely with our personality and physical self) comprised of four corresponding spiritual elements...
...Namely: anger and pride [emanate] from the element of Fire which rises upwards;
Once ignited by anger and pride, a man (like fire)
soars aloft. Pride is the state of considering oneself superior to
others. Anger too is an offshoot of pride. Would a person not be proud,
he would not be angered when someone defied his will.
The appetite for pleasures [emanates] from the
element of Water, for water promotes the growth of all kinds of
pleasure-giving things.
The ability of water to make pleasurable things
grow indicates that concealed within it is the element of pleasure.
Thus, the appetite for pleasure derives from the element of Water.
Frivolity and scoffing, boasting and idle talk [emanate] from the element of Air; like air, they lack substance;
And sloth and melancholy [emanate] from the element of Earth.
Earth is characterized by heaviness. A man encumbered by sloth and melancholy likewise senses a heaviness of the limbs."
What an astute description of the unrefined aspects of the Four Elements in Astrology! Who has not felt the legendary impatience and anger of an un-evolved Aries (Cardinal/Initiating Fire), the burning pride and roar of the hurt ego of Leo (Fixed/Establishing Fire) and the devastating scorn of Mutable/Transforming Fire Sagittarius when their will is thwarted!
Have you waded in the waters of pleasure only to be deluged by lust? The material, sensual, security-minded Cancer (Cardinal/Initiating Water), the controlling sexual hypnotism of Fixed/Establishing Water Scorpio, the dreamy, distorted, self-nullifying Mutable/Transforming Water of Pisces can drown you in unquenchable desire.
The people-pleasing insincere flattery of Cardinal/Initiating Air Libra, the cold bluster and indifferent bravado of Fixed/Establishing Air Aquarius, and the shallow, superficial gossipy Mutable/Transforming Air of Gemini fan the empty winds of communication without substance.
Capricorn's Cardinal/Initiating Earth sternly grasps and rigidly controls the material world, the Fixed/Establishing Earth of Taurus manifests as lazy, selfish narrow-minded parochialism, while the punishing perfectionism of Mutable/Transforming Earth of Virgo critically picks apart and deflates every dream.
Of course each and every one of the 12 Signs / 4 Elements have their refined, spark-uplifted nature as well. None so brave as Aries, none so loyal as Taurus, none so sparklingly entertaining as Gemini, none so faithful as Cancer, none so warm as Leo, none so calm as Virgo, none so balanced and beautiful as Libra, none so compelling or passionate as Scorpio, none friendlier and more fun than Sagittarius, none so stable and responsible as Capricorn, none more full of humanitarian enlightenment as Aquarius, and none as compassionate as Pisces.
The positive, refined characteristics of each of the 12 Zodiac Signs (and their subsequent Tribal affiliations and relationships to the 12 Months of the Year) are manifested when sparks of holiness and goodness encased within the "Klipat Noga" are released.
How are these sparks elevated? Some say by prayer, drawing close to G*d, development of the spiritual self - and all of this is true. It's been my personal observation that one's spiritual work is the tool by which the conscious application of the desire to know and understand one's own unique self that breaks open the "Klipah" (shell, skin, encasement) and allows the light to be revealed.
As Leonard Cohen sings in his song "Anthem":
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
How do the elements balance in your own personalized natal chart? Are you dominated by Fire, Water, Air or Earth, or are you a combination of two or more elements and lacking in one? Are you elevating your holy sparks or are you letting the Klipot grown from the skin of a grape to the shell of a walnut?
